A small plane has crashed in the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey. US officials say that say the plane, believed to be a World War Two vintage P-47 Thunderbolt, went down two miles south of George Washington Bridge.
One survivor, said to be the pilot, was found in the water. It is not known how many people were on board the aircraft.
Marine units have been deployed at the scene of the crash, as a search and rescue operation is continuing. The cause of the accident is unclear.
