Officials had closed the arrival and departures areas of the central terminal at Los Angeles International airport after reports of gunfire.

Police said that they are investigating unconfirmed reports of shots being fired at the airport. Police said, they are searching the airport and all precautions are being taken to ensure the public’s safety. Airport officials advised passengers to contact airlines to check the status of any flights.

Latest reports however said that the central terminal area at Los Angeles International Airport reopened around 11 p.m Local Time. Sunday after an earlier closure due to police activity, according to the LA Airport Police.

Police searched the airport after hearing reports of possible gunfire around 8:45 p.m local time. in Terminal 8. These reports were unconfirmed, the LA Airport Police posted on Twitter.
