U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has announced further aid to earthquake-hit Turkiye. In a statement, Blinken said that Washington would provide longer-term help to Ankara as it seeks to rebuild following this month’s devastating earthquake.
The economic cost of the disaster is expected to run into billions of dollars.
U.S. Secretary of State reached Incirlik Air Force Base yesterday on an official visit and held discussions on how Washington can further assist.
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkiye’s southeast and neighbouring Syria on the 5th of this month, killing more than 45,000 people and leaving a million-plus homeless.
