Powerful storms killed at least 20 people, injured hundreds and left a wide trail of destruction across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Kentucky after tornadoes and severe weather struck the central United States. The storms inflicted the worst damage in a region spanning from north of Dallas to the northwest corner of Arkansas. The storms and searing heat in some states led to power outages. More than 120 million people remain at risk of severe weather today, concentrated over the East Coast, where officials are urging people to take precautions.

On the other hand, in Afghanistan, at least 16 people have died in the recent floods in Baghlan and Badakhshan provinces. According to local officials in these provinces, 500 houses have been completely or partially destroyed in the floods.
