AMN / NEW DELHI
The Rajya Sabha today witnessed noisy scenes in the post-lunch session for a brief period because of Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s objectionable remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
When the House met after the lunch, Bhupendra Yadav of BJP raised the issue, saying it is a matter of dignity of Parliament and the country, and described the comments as shameful. He demanded that the House condemn the remarks.
Congress members, Digvijay Singh and B K Hariprasad and others objected to the BJP member raising the issue. They asked the Chair under which rule Mr. Yadav was allowed to raise the matter.
In the meantime, BJP members raised slogans demanding an apology from Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
