Lok SabhaThe Lok Sabha witnessed uproar during the zero hour today when the Opposition members surged into the well and demanded the Prime Minister’s presence to discuss the incidents of lynching in the name of cow protection.

Congress members tore and flung papers on the Chair and raised slogans against the government. The Speaker’s repeated appeals for calm went unheeded and she adjourned the House for lunch. The ruling party members demanded the re-opening of the Bofors case.

In the post-lunch session, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan named six Congress Members – Gaurav Gogoi, K Suresh, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Ranjeet Ranjan, Sushmita Dev and M K Raghavan for their unruly behaviour and tearing papers and throwing them towards the Chair.

When the House re-assembled around 1430 hrs, Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai, who was in the Chair, said Members named have to withdraw themselves from the House.

Most named Congress members were in the Well protesting for having been named by the Speaker.
Among others, CPI-M member Mohammad Salim also was seen protesting.
