Polling to be held in 73 assembly constituencies

All arrangements for first phase polling has been done and polling parties have also reached at polling centres for poll in Uttar Pradesh. Voting will take place in 73 constituencies of 15 districts of Western Uttar Pradesh. Total 839 candidates are in fray, among them 77 women candidates are also contesting from different constituencies. BSP and BJP are contesting on all 73 seats , Samajawadi Party from 51 seats and congress from 24 seats. 57 candidates of Rashtriya Lok Dal are also in fray. Central paramilitary forces, Police and PAC have been deployed in the poll bound districts.
Though all political leaders were engaged in hectic political campaigning to reach out to voters in their favor but for some of them their stake is very high. From politically sensitive seat Kairana in shamli district BJP leader Hukum Singh’s daughter Mriganka Singh is contesting while from Meerut City BJP former state president Lakshmi Kant Bajpayee is in fray. The UP Cabinet Minister Shaid Manzoor is fighting election from Kithore constituency of meerut and from the same district BJP debatable candidate Sangeet Som is trying for second time from Sardhana seat. Now all focus turns on to voters for tomorrow’s voting. Despite a large chunk of rural voters are busy with agricultural activities, but they will vote in the hope that their problems will be solved. Many of the youth voters going to franchise their vote for first time are not only excited to push EVM buttons but they want to exercise their democratic rights.
In Uttar Pradesh, 826 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed. Out of 15 districts where polling will be held, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Bulandshahar, Meerut, Mathura and Agra are among the sensitive places. To check the misuse of social media platform, strict vigil will also be maintained over it, besides, two mobile numbers have been issued where people can report if they receive any objectionable content on their mobile phones. After assurance given by Chief Election Commissioner Dr. Nasim Zaidi in Lucknow yesterday of providing all security and help to Kairana migrants, the local administration has appealed the people who left Kairana to come back and cast their votes fearlessly. In order to instill a sense of security, the paramilitary forces took out march in the villages and towns which have been identified as sensitive. Senior officers said that from the mid of tonight, the district borders will be sealed and no vehicles will be allowed without intensive checking. Only highways passing through it will be open.
