All 5 persons accused of setting ablaze a rape victim in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district have been arrested by police.
Taking serious note of the incident Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered IG and Commissioner to visit the place of incident and file a report. The victim has been referred to Lucknow’s KGMU hospital for better treatment and the government has announced to bear all the expenses.
The incident took place in Bihar area of the district this morning when the accused, out on bail, attempted to burn the woman by dousing her with kerosene in fields outside the village. SP and DM of Unnao district visited the spot where incident took place. Victim had filed a complaint of rape in March this year. SP Vikrant Vir told media that one of the accused in rape case has also been rounded up by the police. The woman and one of the prime accused in the case had reportedly married last year against the wishes of their families. The couple separated after the families did not approve of their relation.
