The police in Uttar Pradesh have registered a case against ex-BSP MLA Phool Singh Waraiya of MP for allegedly making derogatory remarks against national figures including Rani Luxmi Bai and Mahatma Gandhi. According to sources, during a programme organised in Jhansi in support of Hyderabad University student Rohit Vemula, Mr Waraiya uttered the alleged objectionable remarks. The police after verifying the facts, registered a case under sections 153, 298 and 505 of IPC at Thana Navabad of Jhansi on the complaint of an advocate. Jhansi BJP MLA Ravi Sharma and others demanded immediate arrest of Phool Singh Waraiya.
