5 lakh 51 thousand earthen lamps to be lit near banks of Sarayu River

Celebrations of Ayodhya Deepotsava-2019 began in Ayodhya today. This is the third consecutive year of Deepotsav in Ramnagari by the state government. Last year more than 3 lakh earthen lamps were lighted at Saryu river in Ayodhya.

The state government has given this Ayodhya Deepotsav as the status of State Festival, hence whole management and expanses on Deepotsav are born by the government. Assistant Minister and Deputy Speaker, the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji, Ms Veena Kumar Bhatnagar will be the chief guest of the function.

Meanwhile, people are celebrating Chhoti Dipawali with gaiety and religious fervour today. It is also called Narak Chaturdashi. Markets are abuzz with sweet shops and gifts items.

Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama, the center of faith of hundreds of crores of people is richly decorated and people are eagerly waiting for recreation of scenes when characters of Ram, Laxman and Sita will symbolically descend at Ram Katha Sthal.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with others will receive them landing from ‘Pushpak Viaman’ Helicopter. ‘Shobha Yatra ‘ is being performed with various tableaux about Ramayana episodes since this morning. Event of Bharat Milaap will be a memorable overwhelming scene at Ramkatha Park.

Later in the evening, more than 5 lakh 51 thousand earthen lamps will be lit near the banks of holy Sarayu River and other places and whole Ayodhya will be scintillated. Cultural troupes from various parts of the country are performing shows and artistes from Nepal, Sri Lanka, Philippines and Indonesia have been called to perform Ramlilas of their countries. Seven gates on the names of 7 Kands – main incidents in Ramayan have also been grandiosely erected.
