The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways began a two-day Chintan Shivir at Munnar yesterday to determine the targets and deliberate upon ideas and innovations to guide the maritime sector towards Atmanirbhar.
Inaugurating the Shivir, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal lauded the commitment and hard work exhibited by various stakeholders in positioning India as a global leader in the maritime sector.
He said India has achieved a new reputation globally and his Ministry in coordination with all major organisations is working to further boost and implement the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards making the country Atmanirbhar.
The sessions focussed on innovative ideas of the ports, lighthouse tourism, positioning the country as a global player in shipbuilding and increasing India’s tonnage.
The Chintan Shivir is being attended by Ministers of State Shripad Naik, Shantanu Thakur and senior officers of the Ministry.
