The United Nations Security Council will discuss the latest missile launches by North Korea in a closed-door meeting today at the request of the United States and Japan.

North Korea fired three ballistic missiles into the sea off its east coast yesterday. South Korea’s military said in a statement that the missiles were fired from a western region south of the capital Pyongyang a new show of force as world leaders meet at the G20 summit in China.

However, US condemned test, terming it as a violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

North Korea has conducted a series of missile tests this year in defiance of UN sanctions imposed after its fourth nuclear test in January.
