The process of Government Formation in Maharashtra is almost completed with Shiv Sena leader Udhav Thackrey being projected as the nex chief minister of the state.

“Uddhav Thackeray will lead the government in Maharashtra,” Sharad Pawar told media persons after an hour-long meeting with top leaders here.

Earlier in the day, Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting with party legislators and assured that the process of forming the government was in the final stages. NCP leader Jayant Patil, on the other hand, said the smaller pre-poll allies of his party and the Congress have backed the idea of forming a government with the Shiv Sena to keep the BJP away from power in the state.

Following rift between BJP and Shiv Sena over the post of chief minister the state was plunged into a political crisis. The BJP and Sena, which fought the Assembly polls in alliance, had secured a comfortable majority by winning 105 and 56 seats, respectively, in the 288-member Assembly. The NCP and the Congress, pre-poll allies, won 54 and 44 seats, respectively.
