UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Abu Dhabi on regional security developments and their impact on global stability, international navigation, and the world economy. The meeting took place during President Zelenskyy’s working visit to the United Arab Emirates.
Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Ukrainian President and said the visit reflected the strength of relations between the two countries. Discussions also covered continued Iranian aggression targeting the UAE and other countries in the region, including attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure. President Zelenskyy condemned the attacks, saying they represent a violation of sovereignty, international law and the UN Charter and undermine regional and international peace and security.
Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed affirmed that the UAE is addressing the situation with wisdom and restraint, while remaining committed to defending its sovereignty. He stressed that the UAE is fully prepared to confront threats and retains its right to self-defence in accordance with international law. The two leaders also reviewed cooperation under the UAE-Ukraine Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and reaffirmed their commitment to expanding bilateral ties.
