Two army men were injured in a shootout with militants in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district early morning today.
A police official told media that after Army and Special Operations Group, SOG personnel launched cordon and search operation on specific inputs about presence of militants in the Gulshanpora Mohalla of Shahgund Village in Hajin area, the hiding militants, believed to be three in number, opened fire upon the security forces triggering an encounter. In the ensuing brief gunfight two army troopers were injured.

The injured have been evacuated to Army’s Base hospital in Srinagar for treatment. Sources said that the militants have managed to escape from the area. The Police official confirmed that the cordon and search operation has been called off.
