The Delhi and the Bombay High Courts today dismissed two different Public Interest Litigations seeking a stay on the release of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s biopic.
In the Delhi High Court, a bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice A J Bhambhani refused to entertain the Public Interest Litigation which had also sought a direction to the Election Commission of India to act against the alleged violation of the model code of conduct by the makers of the movie.
The court refused to interfere with the matter and dismissed the plea saying the petitioner could approach the censor board or the Election Commission.
The Bombay High Court also refused to interfere with the release of the biographical drama on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A bench of Chief Justice Naresh Patil and Justice N M Jamdar noted that the Election Commission has already issued a notice to the makers of the film ‘PM Narendra Modi’ over allegations of breach of the model code of conduct in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
The court said that the Election Commission has already taken note of the issue and shall deal with it.
