Two BJP leaders in Bharuch district have been shot dead by unknown assailants last evening. According to police, two persons walked into the office of Shirish Bangali, former President of the Bharuch district unit of BJP and opened fire on him and Pragnesh Mistry, the district general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party -Yuva Morcha. District Superintendent of Police Shobha Bhutda said that two unidentified youths fired two to three rounds on both the leaders before run away on their bike.
The incident occurred in busy commercial area around 7 pm yesterday. While Shirish Bangali died on the spot, Pragnesh Mistry succumbed to bullet injuries in hospital. Shirish Bangali was the president of Bharuch District BJP unit during 2009 to 2012 and also have been affiliated with RSS and Vishwa Hindu Parishad in the past, while Pragnesh Mistry was the District General Secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha. The motive behind the attack is still not known, but police is investigating the incident with different angles. Police have formed three teams and taking help of CCTV footage to nab the attackers.
