US President Donald Trump has signed new order to strengthen vetting of immigrants and refugees to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States.
Mr Trump signed the decree entitled “Protection of the nation from foreign terrorist entry into the United States” last night at a ceremony to swear-in James Mattis as Secretary of Defence. He described the move as big stuff.
The text of the order was released hours after it was signed. Measures include suspension of US Refugee Admissions Programme for 120 days. A ban has been imposed on Refugees from Syria until significant changes are made consistent with national interest.
A 90 day suspension on arrival of immigrants has also been imposed from seven mainly Muslim countries such as Iran, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.
