US President Donald Trump agreed that there was no military solution to the conflict. Stating this in a joint statement on Syria yesterday both the leaders said that political solution to Syria’s conflict and would save tremendous number of lives.
Both the leaders confirmed the importance of de-escalation areas as an interim step to reduce violence in Syria, enforce cease-fire agreements, facilitate unhindered humanitarian access, and set the conditions for the ultimate political solution to the conflict.
They said, they would continue joint efforts to fight Islamic State group. Kremlin which published the text of the joint statement on its website, said Syria was coordinated by the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov and the US Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson.
According to the Kremlin website, Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin approved the statement on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in the Vietnamese resort of Danang.
Mr. Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One after leaving the APEC summit that both leaders seem to have a very good feeling for each other, a good relationship considering we don’t know each other well.
Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump agreed to maintain open military channels of communication between military professionals to help ensure the safety of both US and Russian forces and de-confliction of partnered forces engaged in the fight against the Islamic State group.
