US President Donald Trump has welcomed reports that North Korea has started dismantling a key missile test site.

Trump spoke at a gathering of military veterans in Kansas City in the Midwestern state of Missouri on Tuesday.

The US president stressed that negotiations on the North’s denuclearization seem to be going very well as a consequence of his June summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. He described the meeting as “fantastic.”

A US research group released its analysis of new satellite imagery on Monday.

It says the images indicate the North has begun dismantling parts of a missile testing facility in Tongchang-ri in the country’s northwest.

Trump also referred to the repatriation of the remains of US troops who were killed during the Korean War.

He said Kim promised during the summit that it will be done. Trump said he hopes the “fallen warriors will begin coming home to lay at rest in American soil” very soon.

Trump’s remarks were apparently aimed at dispelling concerns that no concrete progress has been made on the North’s denuclearization since the June summit.
