India’s Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar has said, the Trump Administration has a very positive view of the Indo-US relationship and a lot of interest in taking the ties forward.
After his wide-ranging talks with senior Cabinet members and top officials in Washington, he said India-US Strategic and Commercial Dialogue would be held later this year. Jaishankar said, US Congress has been extraordinarily supportive of the growth of India-US relationship.
He said, overall, there is a very positive sense of India as a partner across the board in the US Administration, whether it is business, security, defence cooperation, India’s engagement in the region or working together on international issues.
Jaishankar, along with Commerce Secretary Rita Teotia, is on a visit to the United States to engage with the new Trump administration. During the talks with Homeland Security Gen (retd) John Kelly, Jaishankar discussed issues related to immigration and welfare of the Indians and Indian American community in the US.
