The CPI(M) led Left Front in Tripura on Tuesday released the list of candidates for the polls to 60-member Tripura assembly. As per the list, Chief Minister and all other present Ministers have been fielded for contesting. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar will contest from his present constituency Dhanpur while Health Minister Badal Chaudhary from Hrishyamukh, Finance Minister Bhanulal Saha from Bishalgarh and Deputy Speaker Pabitra Kar will contest from Khayerpur constituencies that they had wrested for more than one term.
The LF has announced seven women candidates this time and among the twelve new candidates altogether 10 are freshers while two had contested and won elections earlier. However, the LF alliance has allotted only three seats to CPI, RSP (Revolutionary Socialist Party) and Forward Block (FB).
The gazette notification will be issued tomorrow and the last date for filing nominations is 31st January. The scrutiny of the nominations will be held on 1 February and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is 3 February. The voting will be held on 18 February and the counting will take place on 3 March.
