The Central Trade Unions have decided to go on a countrywide strike on Friday to press for their 12- point charter of demands. All ten Trade Unions except Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh have decided to join the strike.

In a joint press conference in New Delhi, the representatives of Trade Unions including Centre of Indian Trade Unions,CITU and All India Trade Union Congress said that the government announcement about hike in daily wages of unskilled non-agricultural workers from 246 rupees to 350 rupees is not acceptable. They demanded to fix the minimum wages at 18 thousand rupees per month.

General Secretary of CITU, Tapan Sen said that their basic demands include containing the prise rise by banning speculative trade in commodity market and stoppage of disinvestment of PSUs.
