A day after the Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman questioned Congress president Rahul Gandhi for comparing his party to Pandavas when his party had negated the existence of Lord Ram, the party on Monday said that those doing politics in the name of Lord Ram were negating the existence of Sita.
Talking to reporters here, AICC media incharge Randeep Surjewala said,’the BJP has come to power by seeking votes in the name of Lord Ram but after coming to power, it is negating the existence of ‘Maa Sita’ in Parliament.’
Mr Surjewala said that in reply to a question in Parliament in April last year whether the government had any historical evidence of existence of birth place of Mata Sita near Sitamarhi in Bihar, Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma has replied that ‘the birth place of Sita is a matter of faith, which is not dependent on evidence. The Archaeological Survey of India has not done any excavation in Sitamarhi and it does not have any historical proof of existence of bithplace of Sita there.’
