Telangana state Government today decided to promote all tenth class students without holding board examinations due to current situation in the wake of COVID-19 Pandemic.

This was decided at a high level meeting held by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhra Rao in Hyderabad. Over 5.34 lakh students will now be promoted based on the grades decided through the internal assessment marks given by their respective schools earlier.

The decision was taken following the state High Court directing the government that it can hold examinations for tenth class except in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, GHMC purview due to high incidence of COVID cases.

Tenth class is most crucial board exam in Higher Secondary School level education in Telangana state as the students will be given optional subjects from Intermediate education, the next level. It may be recalled that the examinations for three out of 11 papers have already been held before the lockdown commenced.
