DGP Shivdhar Reddy declared Telangana entirely free from armed Maoist formations following the surrender of the remaining Telangana State Committee and PLGA members. This achievement marks a strategic victory for the state in neutralizing left-wing extremism.
A total of 42 CPI (Maoist) cadres, including high-ranking leaders such as PLGA Battalion Commander Sodi Malla and various committee secretaries, surrendered along with 36 firearms and 800 grams of gold. The DGP credited this success to the sustained operations of the Telangana Greyhounds and District Police, noting that in 2026 alone, there have been 205 surrenders and the recovery of 206 weapons.
