Telangana has become one the fully electrified states in the country after providing electricity to over 5 lakh 15 thousand households under the Soubhagya Yojana introduced by the Centre in October 2017.
During the last two years, the entire state has been covered and the households in remote areas have been provided electricity under the Sahaj Bijili Ghar Yojana (Soubhagya).
In Telangana state, over 5 lakh 15 thousand households especially those in the remote areas have been electrified during the past 2 years achieving 100 per cent coverage.
The authorities in Rural Electrification Corporation, which is the nodal agency, informed that connection has been provided to all un-electrified households and facility of 10 installments has been given to the weaker sections for payment of connectivity charges of 500 rupees.
The measures that the authorities taken to fully electrify the state helped them to achieve results more than the original target of 4.52 lakh households.
Among the newly electrified households, maximum are in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar District in which one lakh 60 thousand households got electrified.
After fully covering the state by the end of January this year, a special drive has also been conducted in which another over 63 thousand households have been covered making the state fully electrified under the Soubhagya Yojana.
