Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will have separate high courts from January 1 following the issuance of a notification to this effect.

The Two Telugu States have had a common high court in Hyderabad ever since Telangana state was carved out of Andhra Pradesh on June 2nd in 2014.

The Telangana High Court will be the 25th High Court in the country and will function from the current High Court building in Hyderabad while the Andhra Pradesh High Court will start functioning from a temporary building at Amaravati till it gets a permanent structure.

As per the Notification, 16 judges have been allocated to Andhra Pradesh High Court while 10 have been allocated to Telangana High Court.
