AIADMK leader levels serious charges, DMK ‘s Stalin to meet Prez

Chennai

Even as three days have passed when AIADMK General Secretary V K Sasikala was unanimously elected as the Legislature Party (LP) leader, a suspense continue over when she would be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

sasikalaOpposition DMK leader M K Stalin plans to meet the President to put on hold till the Supreme Court orders were out on the Disproportionate Assets (DA) case in which she was the co-accused.

On Sunday, when the AIADMK MLAs elected her as their LP leader, party sources hinted that the swearing-in would take place in one or two days and works had commenced to spruce up the Madras University Centenary Auditorium for her to take oath as Chief Minister.

This auditorium was also the preferred venue for Sasikala’s long time close aide and late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa for the swearing in ceremony.

Reports also suggested that it might take place today or on February nine, but Maharashtra Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao, who was given the additional charge of Tamil Nadu, was yet to reach the city, and it turned out to be a no-show today.

The Supreme Court’s observation that the orders in the disproportionate assets case against Ms Jayalalithaa, in which Ms Sasikala was a co-accused, was almost ready and it would be pronounced in a week’s time, has virtually put the spokes on the arrangements for the swearing in ceremony.
