Election Commission issues show cause notices to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa and DMK Chief, M Karunanidhi over violation of Model Code of Conduct. EC asks both parties to reply by today evening ahead of the polling tomorrow.
The two notices, which have virtually similar wordings say that prima-facie the manifestos of the two parties “have not substantially fulfilled the guidelines of the Commission”.
The Commission has asked both the leaders to respond to its notice by today, failing which, it said, it would take ”appropriate action”.
