Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed confidence that his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin will further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
In a series of tweets on the eve of his visit to Russia, Mr Modi said, he is looking forward to his meeting with President Putin. The Prime Minister also extended greeting to the people of Russia.
Mr Modi will hold an informal summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi tomorrow. The interaction will be part of the regular consultation between the leadership of the two countries. The Prime Minister’s one-on-one talks with Mr Putin will be free from protocol, strict agenda and tangible outcome but are intended to deepen the relationship between India and Russia. Regional factors in bilateral relations would be the central point of the informal meeting, which is now a new trend in diplomacy. Our correspondent has filed this report:
“Several current issues like the fate of Iran nuclear deal, India’s role in Chabahar Port and the International North South Transportation Corridor connecting Mumbai and St Petersburg via Iran would figure in the meeting of the two world leaders. Both leaders would also have a discussion on Afghanistan – Pakistan situation, West Asia crisis and spread of the Islamic State. In a first ever informal meeting between the Prime Minister and Russian President, upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and BRICS summits would also be discussed. They would also share their domestic vision to strengthen economic ties of both countries.
