Taliban militants in Afghanistan have issued a warning to US President Donald Trump. In an open letter to Trump yesterday, the Taliban said sending more troops to Afghanistan will not result in anything. It concludes that the conflict could be resolved by a complete withdrawal.

The Trump administration has been reviewing its policy on Afghanistan, including the option of increasing troop numbers. About 8,400 US troops are stationed in Afghanistan.

International troops, mainly Americans, have been training the Afghan security forces since the US-led coalition ended its combat mission nearly three years ago.

According to media reports, in spite of the US presence, in the country, the Taliban and the Islamic State militant group have been expanding the areas under their control.
