syria-conflictGovernment forces have advanced in Aleppo and pounded rebel-held eastern neighbourhoods with air strikes and shelling.

State television said, army is advancing into Masaken Hanano from three axes. Syrian Government has said residents and surrendering fighters are free to leave the area, but accused the rebels of using civilians as human shields.

Britain based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has also said the rebels have prevented dozens of families from leaving the east Aleppo.

It said eight civilians were killed in the air-strikes and shelling by Government forces. More than 250,000 civilians have been besieged in eastern Aleppo since July, with food and fuel supplies dwindling and international aid exhausted.

Ten days into the offensive to recapture all of Syria’s battered second city, regime bombardment has killed 196 civilians, including at least 27 children, in east Aleppo.
