The United Nations has suspended peace talks aimed at ending Syria’s five-year civil war, just days after they began. But its special envoy Staffan de Mistura said negotiations have not failed and will resume on the 25th of this month. Each side blamed the other for the collapse of the talks. Syrian opposition wants air strikes to end before starting peace talks.
Meanwhile, Syrian government claims to have dealt a major blow to the opposition by cutting a key supply route to the rebel-held city of Aleppo. Syrian state television reported that government forces have broken the siege of Nubul and Zahraa, two towns north-west of Aleppo.
