Swapan Dasgupta resigns as Rajya Sabha member after being named as a BJP candidate in West Bengal.
Dasgupta, a former journalist, has been a nominated member of the Parliament’s upper house since April 2016 and is officially not associated with any political party. Opposition parties threatened to demand his disqualification after BJP announced his candidature for the upcoming Assembly elections in West Bengal.
