PM inaugurates Diamond Jubilee celebration of Supreme Court of India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the Supreme Court has strengthened India’s vibrant democracy. Inaugurating the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Supreme Court of India in Delhi, Mr Modi said laws being made in India today will further strengthen the bright India of tomorrow.
Saying that the entire world is looking at India, the Prime Minister said India’s economic policies today will form the basis of tomorrow’s bright India. He said that technology is playing a huge role in providing Ease of Justice. He highlighted that a strong judicial system is the main foundation of a developed India. He informed that the Government has given approval of 800 crore rupees for the new Supreme Court building.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister launched citizen-centric information and technology initiatives that include Digital Supreme Court Reports (Digi SCR), Digital Court 2.0 and a new website for the Supreme Court. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said people now have the facility of filing cases at the click of a button. He said an upgraded version of the Supreme Court’s e-filing platform was launched in May last year which offers a host of improved features that have made 24×7 filing of cases simpler, faster and convenient. He added that nearly one lakh 28 thousand e-filings have been done so far.
