Indian Team outclassed hosts Malaysia 5-1 to register their first win in the ongoing Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament here today.
The Indian team made a solid start to the game after scoring their first goal in the 10th minute as Shilanand Lakra took a pass from Gurjant Singh and pushed the ball past the Malaysian goalkeeper.
After a goalless second quarter, Malaysia equalised the issue in the 33th minute when the hosts got their first Penalty Corner (PC) and Faizal Saari made no mistake in converting it.
Minutes later, Gurjant provided India the lead once again as he converted a PC into a fantastic goal.
The final and fourth quarter saw the men in blue coming all gun blazing as India scored three back to back goals to make the issue 5-1 in their favour. Sumit Kumar, Ramandeep Singh and Gurjan striked in the final quarter to make things worse for the hosts and help their side register a thumping victory.India will now take on Ireland on Friday.
