The Election Commission has completed the preparations for the smooth conduct of polling for the first phase of assembly elections in Chhattisgarh to be held tomorrow.
The Commission has made multidimensional efforts to increase the polling percentage in the Maoist affected tribal areas of the state.
In the 18 constituencies, which are going for poll tomorrow in Chhattisgarh, more than 31 lakh 80 thousand voters, including about 16 lakh females, are eligible to exercise their franchise.
To provide facilities for smooth polling to women, election commission has set up ‘Sangwari’ polling booths in various constituencies.
These women friendly booths will be “manned” by an all-female staff including presiding officers, supervisors and security personnel.
Chhattisgarh has a good number of young voters. About 60 percent of the voters of the state are between the age group of 18 to 39 years.
Chief Electoral Officer Subrat Sahoo said that to encourage these young voters to exercise their franchise, each polling centre of the state will have ‘Voter Selfie Zone’.
Five best selfie will be selected from each assembly constituency and would be given awards.
