Ahead of the proposed ‘Million March’ by separatists to counter Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s November 7 rally, Police in Jammu & Kashmir, have detained JKLF chief Yasin Malik and senior Hurriyat (G) leader Shabir Ahmad Shah.

These detentions have been done ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Kashmir on Saturday. The separatist leaders have proposed ‘Srinagar Million March’ on the same day.

Several leaders and activists of Hurriyat (G) were either arrested or put under house detention.Syed Ali Geelani continues to be under house detention since he returned from New Delhi this April. Several 2nd rung leaders of Hurriyat (G) and JKLF have also been arrested.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today accepted Syed Ali Geelani’s invitation and decided to support ‘Srinagar Million March’. He said “Indian leadership needed to understand that only a political resolution and not economic packages could resolve the vexed Kashmir issue.”

In a statement  Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Geelani said that to sabotage the scheduled “Million March” program, the “puppet state government on the direction of Indian home ministry has started a massive process of arrests, raids and search operations in every nock and corner of the state”.
