The Sri Lankan Navy apprehended 37 Tamil fishermen from Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu when they were fishing near Neduntheevu Friday night. Six fishing boats were also detained. AIR correspondent reports that this has created tension in the fishermen hamlets of Tamil Nadu.
The Indian Coast Guard also apprehended six Sri Lankan fishermen and seized a boat for allegedly fishing in Indian waters. In an anti-poaching operation Friday, the Coast Guard ship Sagar apprehended them about 158 nautical miles north east off Chennai.
