South Africa defeated India by nine runs in the first One-Day International of three-match series at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow last night. Chasing a massive 250-run target in 40 overs, Team India made 240 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

For hosts, Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 86 was the top scorer while Shreyas Iyer made 50 runs. For visitors, Lungi Ngidi scalped three wickets while Kagiso Rabada took two wickets. India skipper Shikhar Dhawan had won the toss and opted to bowl first. The match has been curtailed to 40 overs a side due to rain.
