Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has exuded confidence about the no-confidence motion as the party argued that it would use the debate to corner the government on its failures, ranging from foreign policy to women’s security.
Asked about the fate of the motion given that numbers are in the government’s favour in Lok Sabha, Sonia said, “Who says we don’t have the numbers?”
The remark was seen more as reflecting optimism than confidence, given that the government is expected to sail through in voting. however, it indicated that Congress was looking forward to the debate and pushing for the no-confidence motion was a considered decision of the leadership and not forced by TDP which has been hostile after breaking away from BJP in the budget session.
