In memorandum submitted to chief minister Mr. Bhatia said that there was a sizable population of about five lakh Sindhis in West Bengal who are contributing financially and culturally to the development to the state but they don’t have any official Sindhi body to reflect their identity.

He said that the proposed academy will contribute to the cultural literature and artistic activities of Sindhi in the state as Sindhi academies are functioning in several other states.
Mr.Bhatia suggested the chief minister to take help of Mr Raju Bharat, member of national council of Sindhi language and Ms Durga Thawarani social worker.
