jnu union presidentNationalist Congress Party Chief Sharad Pawar has blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Government at the Centre over the Jawaharlal Nehru University row.

Slamming the BJP, he said the party was sowing seeds of secession as it saw party’s defeat staring in its face in the ensuing elections.

The Maratha leader claimed that the ruling party would face defeat in the coming elections in various states. He was speaking at a meeting of State NCP functionaries in Mumbai today.

Terming the JNU issue as a political conspiracy, Mr. Pawar said the BJP is propagating that only they are the real nationalists and others are anti-nationals.

He also alleged that the panel which defeated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad in Jawaharlal Nehru University Student’s Union elections has been branded anti-national and jailed. He added that Police should thoroughly probe the complex matter.

Coming down heavily on the Devendra Fadnavis-led BJP-Shivsena Government in the state, he said that the new regime has done little to combat acute water scarcity in many parts of the state.

The State Unit Chief of the party Mr. Sunil Tatkare asked the party workers to get ready to take on the Government as the efforts are being made to supress the party at various levels.

Farooq criticises elements for raising anti-national slogans

National Conference president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah today criticised the elements who raised anti-national slogans in the JNU.

Dr Abdullah told reporters at the sidelines of a function in Jammu today that JNU-like incidents are not acceptable and the party condemns the same. He commented that if the students of JNU wanted to talk and raise the issue of Afzal Guru, they should have done it in a systematic way and there should not have been any violence and noise.

The NC president stalwart however, batted for Indo-Pak cricket tournaments to strengthen relations between two countries.

He said that the party favours India Pakistan cricket, but at the same time Pakistan should understand that talks and terror would not go together. He further said that incidents like Pampore attack will derail talks.
