The Supreme court has refused to stay the Allahabad High Court order directing the Uttar Pradesh Government to remove posters of accused allegedly involved in vandalism during Anti-CAA protests in the state.

The Allahabad High Court had ordered the state government on Monday to take down the posters by 16th March. The state government had filed a special leave petition in the Apex Court challenging this decision.

A two-judge vacation bench has directed that the state government’s petition should be placed for hearing before a three-judge bench. The posters were put up in major locations in the state capital Lucknow on 5th March. They bore the names and addresses of those accused of damaging public property during anti CAA protests in December, 2019.
