RJD leader Mohammad Shahabuddin today surrendered before Siwan court in Bihar. He has been sent to divisional jail. Earlier in the day, Supreme Court set aside the Patna High Court order granting bail to controversial RJD leader Shahabuddin in a murder case.
The apex Court directed him to surrender and asked Bihar Govt to take steps to take him into custody forthwith. Supreme Court also asked the trial court to expeditiously conclude Rajiv Roshan murder case allegedly involving Shahabuddin.
The state government had moved the Supreme Court last week seeking cancellation of Shahabuddin’s bail saying it was not properly heard by Patna High Court while granting him the bail.
Shahabuddin, who was in jail for 11 years in connection with dozens of cases, was granted bail by the Patna High Court on 7th of this month. He was released from Bhagalpur jail on 10th.
BJP has welcomed Supreme Court decision cancelling the bail of controversial RJD leader Shahabuddin in a murder case saying it has provided justice to the family of the victim.
Talking to media in New Delhi today, party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain accused the state government of helping Shahabuddin in getting bail.
