The Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange gained 20 points to 34,462, a short while ago, while the Nifty at the National Stock Exchange added three points to 10,389.
At the foreign exchange market, the rupee appreciated by 31 paise to 73 rupees 64 paise against the US dollar.
