The two-day “Overseas Employers’ Conference” will provide a forum for the overseas employers to interact with the Government of India and the State Government representatives and put forward their point of view. They could also raise issues related to recruitment of Indian workers for overseas employment.

The conference is being organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) in partnership with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, Indian Council of Overseas Employment (ICOE) and the Overseas Manpower Corporation Limited (OMCAP), Andhra Pradesh.

The conference would be attended by around forty major foreign employers, officials from various Ministries/Departments of Government of India and senior level officers from the 15 State Governments from where majority labour outflow takes place from India to foreign countries for overseas employment in semi and low-skilled category and representatives of the concerned foreign governments.

According to sources in the ministry of overseas Indian affairs, the seminar would discuss the availability of trained manpower in various sectors, such as construction, hospitality and health care with leading foreign employers from GCC countries and South East Asian countries. They would also interact with officials of the state from where large numbers of workers migrate to these countries.

It would also showcase the schemes and initiatives taken by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and respective State Governments for skill up gradation and pre-departure orientation programmes.

Policy issues governing emigration for overseas employment, skill development for better employment opportunities overseas, improving the relations between the overseas employer and the worker and promotion of overseas employment for migrant workers would also likely to be discussed in the two days seminar.
