The Supreme Court has rejected the bail plea of a terrorist convicted in the 1996 Lajpat Nagar blast case. A bench, headed by Chief Justice JS Khehar, denied interim bail to Jammu and Kashmir Islamic Front (JKIF) terrorist Mohammad Naushad, who wanted to attend his daughter’s marriage. The court said, if someone is involved in heinous offence of indiscriminate killing of innocents, then it’s better he forgets his family ties.
JKIF terrorists had triggered explosives kept in a stolen car setting off a high intensity blast in the Lajpat Nagar market in Delhi on May 21, 1996. 12 people had lost their lives.
