Supreme Court today expressed anguish over inordinate delay in criminal mater related to Babri Masjid demolition. Justice Rohington Nariman was repeatedly referring to 14 acussed against whom charges were dropped. To this, Advani lawyer KK Venugopal corrected him that there are 13 people not 14. Some are dead. To this, Justice Nariman frowned — yes several are dead and most will die.

SCEarlier Lawyer appearing for the probe agency, CBI, Niraj Kishan Kaul, argued before the Apex court seeking that the criminal conspiracy charges should be initiated in the Babri Masjid demolition case against certain BJP leaders.  A bench of the Apex Court headed by Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose and also comprising Justice Rohinton Fali Nariman was hearing the arguments from the probe agency, Central Bureau of Investigation

Kaul told the division bench of the Apex Court that there are two trials going on simultaneously one in Rai Bareliey and the other one in Lucknow  The apex court asked several questions to Kaul about the facts and circumstances of the Babri Masjid demolition case

Kaul told the Apex court that 195 witnesses had already been examined in Lucknow trial court and approximately 300 more to be examined  Whereas, in Rai Bareliey Court, 57 witnesses had already been examined and 100 or more are likely to be examined in the case

The argument is still going on in the Apex court CBI told the Apex court that 14 persons, including Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, who were acquitted of the charges under criminal conspiracy should be tried in Lucknow Court in the Babri Masjid demolition case
